What is a Crystal Essence and how are they made?

So what is a crystal essence? It is common knowledge that there are many health benefits to the body & skin from using pure botanicals, essential oils and other carrier oils sourced from the plant kingdom. However, there isn’t as much discussion around the healing and beautifying effects from mineral kingdom (aka crystals and gems) which are sourced directly from Mamma Nature, herself. 

 A lot of health conscious or spiritually minded folks will purchase these beautiful crystals & gems for their aesthetically pleasing quality, but also for their unique metaphysical properties. For example, wearing, holding or even placing a crystal close to your body will cause a subtle effect to your body's own energy field.  

You can think of the body's energy field like a glass of water. Placing a crystal on or near the body is like dropping another liquid substance into the glass of water.  Depending on the potency of that substance, it will then permeate into the surrounding water, causing a subtle change to occur. There are countless resources that explain in detail the physical, emotional and spiritual healing effects which each crystal holds.

Dr. Masaru Emoto has extensive research which scientifically proves that water that has not been contaminated or altered (sourced directly from the spring) is the most programmable substance on earth. This means it can be imbued (charged or saturated) with the same metaphysical properties (think: energetic footprint) of the crystal that is placed within it or beside it within a larger glass jar (if made via the indirect method).

A crystal essence (also known as a gem elixir) is when water has been imbued with the same energy or vibrational frequency that the crystal possesses. Since water is very sensitive to its surrounding environment, it is very important that the water used is sourced from the highest quality spring water that has not been contaminated with chemicals (tap water with fluoride, bromine & chlorine) or that has been stripped of its healthy minerals. It is also important to use water that has only been stored in glass packaging as plastic can distort the water’s natural energetic footprint.

How are BODYCHERISH’S crystal essences made?

BodyCherish's Crystal essences are made from glass bottled glacial spring water. The crystals used for each essence are first cleansed (physically and energetically) and then placed inside the water and covered for a 24 hour period. BodyCherish maximizes the healing energies imbued into the water by placing the glass jars (with water & crystal inside) in direct sunlight during the day of a super full moon.

This enhances the yang energy offered from the Sun's rays. Then the glass jar is left overnight to absorb the powerful yin energy that is offered from the light of the super full moon. This process energizes the essence while balancing it - think of it as a beautiful & complimentary energy infusion.

During the water imbuement, beautiful angelic music is played to offer even more healing vibrations to space in which the essences are created. Positive affirmations and the healing intentions of each crystal are also written and placed on the exterior of the glass jars.

Once all steps have been completed, the crystal is carefully removed and remaining water is the pure essence which has the same energetic frequency and metaphysical healing properties as the actual stone! This pure essence is then mixed with 50% grade vodka or brandy to preserve. These jars area sealed tight and are known as the mother batches.  Then a small portion of essence from the mother batch is taken and diluted into a dark amber glass bottle filled with additional glacial spring water and grapefruit seed extract (acts as a natural preservative). This ensures the shelf life of the essence.

This process works on the principle of homeopathy. Diluting the mother batch essence does not minimize the energetic frequency of the water; it only takes away the majority of the alcohol content.  Remember, water is programable and takes on the energy pattern of what it is mixed with. This new bottle is then surrounded by 7 clear quartz points to further amplify & charge the essence and it's intention. It is these essences that are then added by 2% total volume to the entire line of BodyCherish's Organic Beauty & Facial Ritual products. What is Crystal Healing?

Crystal Healing is an alternative healing technique that directly influences the energetic systems of the human body and intern positively impacts the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. Wearing, holding or even placing a crystal close to your body will cause a subtle effect to your body's own energy field. To further amplify the truly remarkable healing powers of the crystal kingdom, one can place them in a grid formation. I offer my clients crystal layouts that are placed upon different sacred geometry symbols, including the Seed of Life, Flower of Life and Metatrons cube. This further empowers and amplifies the intention of the healing session. What exactly is sacred geometry? You can think of it as the form beneath all life and points to a divine order in our reality. We can follow that order from the smallest invisible atom and all the way to the infinite stars, finding ourselves at each step along the way.

How does is work?

Each crystal has a unique metaphysical properties (energetic blueprint) which promote healing on different levels of your being. This is impart due to how each crystal resonates differently with each chakra centre of the human body and energy field. You may have heard about the chakras but aren't totally clear on what exactly they are and how they work. You can think of the 7 major chakras like energy centres of the of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. These bodies are also known as the subtle bodies and a chakra is an energy point (or node) in the subtle body versus the physical body. You can also picture a chakra as a funnel shaped energy centre (or vortex) that corresponds with many meridian points and nerve bundles in the human body.

There are different ways a person can open, clear and balance their main 7 chakras. This is important because when a chakra centre is moving optimally, then that area of ones life is also flowing optimally. However, when a chakra is blocked in moving poorly, the area of one's life that it directly impacts will also not be in flow.

For example, the Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine and the corresponding colour is red. When balanced, it will bring about good health, feeling grounded, safe and secure and prosperous. However, when unbalanced or blocked it will bring about feelings of insecurity, fear, financial difficulties, boredom, lethargy, chronic pain (often in the low back) and depression. Physically, an unbalanced root chakra will bring about dry, pale, blotchy skin.

Each chakra resonates with different foods, colours, sounds, mantras, activities, yoga poses, affirmations, essential oils and of course crystals!

3 ways to ring in the Autumn Equinox

The seasons are changing & autumn is definitely in the air! I love everything about this season including the cool+crisp fresh air, comfy clothes, as well as curling up & getting cozy on the couch. This year Bodycherish is celebrating the autumn festivities by bringing back the Organic Beauty Butter from last winter... but this time in Vanilla Spice! These luxury green beauty butters as well as a special edition candle called Let's Get Cozy will launch on the fall equinox (September 22nd) which also happens to coincide with the end of mercury retrograde (hallelujah!). I don't know about you, but I have most definitely felt the effects of this retrograde. With it concluding the same day of the equinox, I cannot help but feel compelled to start fresh and change things up.. in all areas of my life for that matter. Below I have shared 3 easy ways to "spice up your life" (pun intended) with this seasonal change:

1) Clear the clutter. I know it is more common to clear out the closet and house of clutter when spring hits, but I like to do an overhaul with each season change. It helps me make space for the new. This includes donating clothes I have not worn for > 1 year. You know you are just as guilty. They are sitting there and you keep saying one day you will wear that shirt. Really, you don't even like the damn shirt.. you just feel guilty and like you "should" because you bought it. That is so silly. Someone out there needs that shirt and would actually really like it. So now is the time to declutter & donate. Trust me, you will feel lighter and brighter after! Like a load has been taken off.

2) Spice it up! No, not with spiced rum :-) ... but with scents that infuse your home and even your body with something different than summertime coconuts. There is something so delicious about curling up on the couch with a good book while having a candle lit and that is what has inspired Bodycherish's Let's Get Cozy Candle, scented with organic essential oils of vanilla, nutmeg and a touch cinnamon and clove. This high vibration candle is absolutely perfect for both autumn and winter as it is these seasons that have the most family gatherings. 3) Bring the outdoors inside. With cooler temperatures you may feel like staying inside more and that means less time in nature. Most all people tend to spend less time in nature during the autumn and winter months. We exchange our outdoor walks or runs with some good ol' sweaty spin or hot yoga classes. I definitely do this but there is actually a side effect of being less connected from nature. This leads to feeling less grounded or rooted (more flighty and stressed out). Being in nature soothes our souls but also helps our physical body stay in equilibrium. So what can we do? Well, we can bring nature indoors! This may include investing in a pink himalayan salt lamp you have been eyeing. These lamps change the quality of the air in your home as if you were near the ocean, among many other benefits. Another way is going to the local greenhouse and splurging on some house plants that are especially helpful for the air quality they promote. One of my favourite and most hearty house plants is the snake plant. I have owned mine for for 2 years and 8 months and it is still going strong! Yet another way, that can be a family fun day, is by bringing the kids outdoors to pick a few favourite leaves or pinecones from the ground. You can then hot glue these beauties to a pre-made branch style wreath (found at local craft stores). You can also find your elements from nature while on vacation. Bringing home sand or seashells is a great souvenir from your travels and also looks pretty displayed inside a vase.

Well-Being Benefits of High Vibration Aromatherapy

There are some incredible health & well-being benefits from using essential oils. Mixing them into your body care, bath salts and facial care is one way; however, another is by dabbing them directly onto your pulse points or even smelling the aroma straight from the bottle... perhaps peppermint for a quick pick me up while at the office.

Another way to experience the benefits of these high vibrational oils is to diffuse them into your living space and allow their healing abilities go to work. Two of my favourite ways to permeate these oils into the air of your home or workspace include the following:

1) Nebulizing. This is an excellent way to purify and uplift the energy and air in your home, while at the same time adding moisture. How it works is you fill a nebulizer with water and add a few drops of your favourite essential oils. This safely dilutes them down and allows your air to be misted with a non-toxic and delightful aroma while also offering benefits on a mental, emotional and physical level. Another idea is if your car feels like it has stagnant energy and needs an energy boost, try grabbing an extension cord and bringing your nebulizer out into your vehicle and then leave overnight (with the window left slightly open). The next morning your car will smell amazing and the energy of it will be bright and sparkly!

2) Burning a candle. This is an especially lovely way to permeate the energy of your home with a gentle aroma and beautiful energy. Candles are excellent tools to enhance and amplify the power of the essential oils in which they are blended with.

For example, if you are looking to enhance your mental clarity and focus, a candle blended with essential oils of peppermint or even frankincense will do just that. If you are looking to refresh the room and clear it of any negative energy, it is excellent to burn a candle blended with sage.  

If you are looking to bring in an uplifting aroma and energy, a candle mixed with citrus oils is great; while a candle mixed with lavender or rose is a wonderful way to bring in a loving energy that opens the heart chakra.

There are even essential oils, and crystals for that matter, that resonate more strongly with the angelic realm, if working with the Angels is part of your practice.

Want to take it a step even further?? Try burning a candle or misting a nebulizer that has been mixed with crystal and/or flower essence energy. This really ensures the space becomes permeated with the highest vibrational energy. Different crystals and flowers (as well as essential oils) resonate with different chakras (energy centres) of the human body. How to make all-natural, toxin-free, bug repellent

It's that time of year.  The family is a bustlin' and cannot wait to get outdoors and soak up some sunshine & good vibes from Mama Nature. Cars are packed and you're raring to go. You're double checking your list.. tent - check, sunscreen - check (hopefully bodycherish's all-natural found here), comfy shoes - check, a lot of food (and beer perhaps) - check.  Anything else? Nope, so you hit the road full of excitement. Then you get there and realize as the first mosquito sinks it's zzapper into you... you forgot the bug repellent!! Or maybe, you brought it but aren't sure if you even want to saturate your body with such a toxic product.

We've all been there. Do you suffer from a plentitude of itchy bug bites or do you spray your body with the most toxic body products of them all... BUG REPELLENT. Technically speaking, bug repellent is a toxin the repels insects as they immediately detect it is harmful to them. Guess what? It is absolutely harmful to humans too! At least the drugstore variety.. and most definitely if it contains DEET.

So what are your options you may ask? Or, are there even any safe alternatives? ABSOLUTELY! Below I have shared the top 7 essential oils to help you ward off those pesky bugs, effectively and naturally.

1) Citronellla

2) Patchouli

3) Lavender 

4) Tea tree

5) Eucalyptus 

6) Lemongrass

7) Rosemary

You may not like the smell of all 7 of these essential oils and that is okay. Even if you pick just 3 of these, you will still find you have an effective blend of bug repelling oils. Once you decide which oils you wish to use, simply follow these easy steps:

Step 1) Fill 8 oz spray bottle with distilled or boiled water 1/2 full.

Step 2) Almost fill the remaining 1/2 with alcohol free witch hazel (if you have rose water on hand, you may also add that to make this smell even more lovely). Another option is simply using vinegar which is mega-inexpensive, yet still effective (apple cider vinegar works too).

Step 3) Add 40-50 drops (total) of your favourite essential oils from those listed above.

Step 4) Shake, shake and shake some more! As there is no solubilizer being added, you will have to give this bottle a good shake everytime before you use to ensure the essential oils (EOs) get mixed adequately as they separate. Another option is adding a few drops of a solubilzer if you have some on hand (as this will dilute the EOs into the water and witch hazel mix).

*Helpful tip: If you are lounging around the fire pit, you can also use this spray all around your backyard haven. It is safe even when applied to plants so have at it! Spray around anywhere you'll be sitting including your body and clothes. 

Trust me, these natural remedies work! The earth, in all her natural beauty, has just the right ingredients to keep us safe, happy and healthy. We just have to trust the intelligence of Mama Nature and go back to our roots.
